The Ladysmith Kinsmen Club, in conjunction with the Ladysmith Festival of Lights Committee, are now accepting entries for the 2024 Light Up Parade, which kicks off the Festival of Lights season.
There have been some changes for the parade and we hope that everyone will understand. We have had to limit the number of entries, for safety and logistical reasons, so we will review all entries and will be in touch with those entries. The only “theme” we have is all accepted entries must fit the time of the year and it MUST have festive lights on it. However, as there will be a Santa Parade later on in Ladysmith, we ask all groups to not use or have a Santa theme.
The Light Up parade is on for Thursday, November 28th, 2024!
- 3 pm: Christmas Craft and Artisan Fair @ Aggie Hall
- 4 pm: Street entertainment and concessions
- 4:30 to 6:15 pm: Stage entertainment
- 6:30 pm: Santa arrives – lights are turned on!
- 6:45 pm: Light Up parade starts from 1st Avenue to Aggie Hall
Parade lineup starts at 5:00 pm.
Parade begins at 6:40 pm SHARP!
The Route
Line up on both sides of Methuen Street.
Entries will be given a number and participants line up behind that number. Route proceeds along First Avenue to Bob Stuart Park (where riders disembark) and all empty floats will proceed across the highway to designated parking areas along Rocky Creek Road. There will be traffic control personnel to direct the parade and their directions must be followed.
"Just wanted to say that I’ve been flooded with positive comments for the Light Up event, the new lights and the new look of the Chuck Perrin tree. I don’t remember a kick off like that EVER. Was so great and our family felt so fortunate to be able to be in the crowd and just enjoy the energy and ‘all the feels’. Seeing the volunteers out the next morning tuning everything up is such a testament to your group and Ladysmith as a community. You should all be very proud."
All the very best, Aaron

Donations are Appreciated!
The cost to replace bulbs with new LED ones is very high so we ask for donations to help offset the costs. If you can spare a few bucks via our GoFundMe page, thank you.
